DEPARTMENT CHAIR DEVELOPMENT

Department chairs are in the unenviable dual position of supervising their disciplinary colleagues while being part of the institutional leadership team, making their positions among the most difficult on the campus. Working with groups of chairs, Bataille will provide guidance on strategic planning at the department level, performance management and evaluation, faculty retention strategies, and ways chairs can become effective leaders.  In her academic career, Bataille has served as department chair, dean, provost and president and recognizes the importance of the role of department chairs in contributing to the overall mission and goals of the campus.
