HIGHER EDUCATION LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE

Working with an institution’s leadership team, Bataille will interview all the members of the team, assess strengths and weaknesses of the individuals and provide customized strategies for improving the effectiveness of each member to achieve the institution’s goals.  Many recent breakdowns of communication between presidents and boards or presidents and faculty leaders are the result of unclear definitions of shared governance.  Bataille will facilitate retreats or collaborate with institutional leaders to clarify the roles of the leaders, faculty and the board.  Her monograph Presidents:  Caught in the Middle (ACE 2013) addresses the dynamic role of the president between the governing board and the faculty.  Similar strategies can be employed to develop leadership skills of vice president, deans, directors and other key administrators on the campus.
